The RAR competition was pretty wikid. Mum n Dad came 18th out 22 teams in the Australasian comp and 15th out of 22 in the World comp. Mum was the medic and Dad was team leader. Totally proud, cos they were up against paid professionals when they’re only volunteers. They hadn’t even trained with the team before. It was fun to watch but a little painful…watching a brand new 2005 Holden Monaro getting beaten, smashed, bent, broken, rolled and crushed into bits. It was interesting to see just how a road accident rescue happens, what people do and what’s involved in getting people out. Not likely I’ll do it one day, but I’ve promised myself I’ll be part of the team – traffic control and equipment management etc. I get to join in two years when I’m 17. Ugh, way too long to wait. It should be 16. I can’t wait to do a 4wd course. Once I can do that – I can go anywhere ;)

What else happened… well for the sake of my memory bank we stayed in a Hotel (Novatel Hamilton) and it was walking distance from a really cool 24 hour café, mini market, souvenir shops and a mall. It rained everyday we were there so I loved leaving the hotel and just walking around with either Libby or Mum n Dad. Libby was great. She wasn’t in the teams either, just there to support her husband Brendon. Three times out of the eight days of competition we stayed back in Hamilton city and just shopped or walked around. She even took me to lunch at Breakers (Second best restaurant for atmosphere). Everyone there was so nice and some guy at a music store helped for a whole ten minutes find some cd’s I wanted and even told me everything about them. Nirvana and Jimmy Eat World. I bought a total of five cd’s while I was there. He talked me into them I swear.

After the competition we only had three or four days to do some exciting stuff. We fit it all in pretty well though. First thing we did was go back to Rotorua and go on the Huka Jet, second fastest jet boat in NZ I think. I got soaked. It was way cool. We spent the rest of that day driving to a nice little beach town and just enjoying scenery, which I thought dumb. What’s the point of spending actual time on scenery, its everywhere! We eventually went on a quad biking safari (which was so totally mad!) and I covered in mud. The guy told us not to go up sixth gear - but that was only one I was in for the whole damn thing! Wooohoo! But the biggest highlight was the snow. My first time in god damn snow! I learnt how to ski (damn was I good at it!) and went skiing down the slopes called the 'rock garden'. It was so mad.

Well till I update more,
-Outtie
